In the book, the authors wrote about an incident that happened between the wedding in which Meghan was treated poorly by the Royal staffers over a piece of jewelry.
As claimed in the biography, Meghan had received a necklace from Prince Harry as his token of love, which she decided to wear to the palace, but the staffers tried to stop her, even scolding her for her decision.

In 2016, when the press caught a whiff of Harry and Meghan’s relationship, one publication named InStyle wrote a piece, claiming that the Prince had gifted his new girlfriend a beautiful gold necklace that had both of their initials on it.
The Suits actress was spotted wearing the accessory around neck on several occasions, a move that the royal aides weren’t happy with. Meghan was even confronted by the staffers about the necklace and demanded that she doesn’t wear it ever again in public.
Scobie Durand, who was part of the palace’s press corp talked to one of the palace staffers about the incident. He said that the aides didn’t want her to attract unnecessary attention and headlines from the media by wearing the necklace out and about.

Even though the aides had good intentions, Meghan got her first taste of what it would be like to have her freedom taken away from her after the marriage. She couldn’t bear to be told what she should wear and who she should speak to.
The duchess even called one of her best friends later to vent about the incident. She aired her frustration on failing to make everyone happy, and felt suffocated within the palace walls.
